After almost 4 years when we were first introduced to Liberty City in the 2001 title "Grand Theft Auto 3" players will once again return to this wonderful city based on real life city, New York. It will once again promise open-ended gamplay throughout 3 districts. Portland, Staunton Island and Shoreside Vale each has its own unique feel and look. There are some minor changes to the city. One very noticeable is the ferry stations, with one located on each island. A lot of the buildings also still doesn't exist that has been seen in GTA 3 or are still being built. An example is the internet cafe on Staunton Island that is still under construction.

Below we take you on a tour of the first island in the game, Portland. Click the images to view the full version. Bear in mind that this page could contain spoilers, if you haven't completed the main storyline yet.


Toni's Appartment
This is Toni's apartment in Portland. You'll need to come here every time you want to save your game in the Portland area. Inside you'll find a health package that restores your health and a clothing icon to change your outfit. It's located just a few blocks away from Salvatore Leone's home, where you'll receive numerous missions from.



Vincenzo Cilli's hideout
Located in Atlantic Quays, just near the Portland Harbor, is where you'll receive missions from Vincenzo Cilli. This is the guy who'll help you get a place to stay once you got back into the city. You'll see his hideout very often during the early parts of the game.




Salvatore Leone's house
The big house on the hill looking over the ocean and Portland beach in St. Marks belongs to Salvatore Leone. He is the leader of a Mafia crime family in Liberty City and you'll need to respect him in order to work for him. Outside the house you'll also find a snazzy Mafia Sentinel and a PCJ-600. Walking down to the beach you'll also find yourself a BF-Injection.




Maria's Appartment
This is the apartment of Maria, Salvatore Leone's girlfriend. Be careful as this is a crazy woman and will take you across Portland doing all sorts of crimes.





Paulie's Revue Bar
You'll remember this place from GTA 3 as Sex Club 7. Located in the Red Light District and is now owned by JD O'Toole where you'll also receive missions from. The area is roamed by pimps, ho's and of course the Sindacco's.





Sex Club 7
This is Sex Club 7 as you saw it in GTA 3. During the course of the game Paulie's Revue bar will become under new management and change its name to Sex Club 7.





Ma Cipriani's Restaurant
This is where Toni grew up most part of his live. Toni's mother, which calls him Antonio, lives here by herself now and runs an italian restaurant. The area is protected by the Leone crime family.





AM Gas Station
Located in the Northern part of Portland, next to the fire station in Harwood, is the AM Gas station. Of course you can't fill up your vehicle here, but try speeding up to the gas tanks and jump out of your vehicle just before it hits the tanks. You'll see a nice "fire display" once you did that.





Portland Fire Station
Once you exploded them gas tanks at the AM Gas Station, the fire station next door is ready to fight the flames. Here you can jack a fire truck to start the fire truck missions where you need to take out fires across Portland getting quite a lot of money in return.





Crusher
Nearby in Harwood is the crusher. Drive a vehicle right under the magnet, get out and the crusher will do the work. In return you will receive money for the scrap. You can also use the hills over here to entertain the clients that are interested in offroad vehicles during the Car Salesmen missions nearby.





Auto's
Over here is where you'll find the car salesmen missions. Just walk up to the yellow marker in front of the small showroom to trigger the cool side mission. The cars will spawn here and you need to take the potential buyers across Portland and interest them in buying any of the vehicles available.





Ferry Station
The new ferry station can come in handy to cross islands fast. Once a ferry has docked, drive your vehicle into the yellow marker and press the up button to pay $25 for a ticket that'll take you to Staunton Island.





Dirt Track
Next to the ferry station is another new landmark in Liberty City. Seeing as the Sanchez is in the game you can bring it here to go a little off-road. You'll also find a side mission here, called Bumps & Grinds, where you need to race through the track in a given time limit. Once you completed level 10, you'll receive a brand new motorbike in the game, the Manchez.





Head Radio
Near the Dirt Track, in Harwood, are the offices of Head Radio. The 90's pop station featuring DJ: Michael Hunt, which you can tune into on the game's radio function. You won’t be coming around here very often in the storyline, but if you need the Angel bike, come check in this parking lot as it spawns here very often.





Marco's Bistro
As seen in GTA 3 and GTA: San Andreas, this place hasn't changed much. Still the old italian restaurant, located in St. Marks. As you'd expect, the italian mafia roams this place and won't allow any unwanted guests or police officers trying to do their job.





Red Light District
On the other side of Portland is the Red Light District. Besides the local ammu-nation and Pay 'n' Spray, you'll also find other "useful" services in this area. Just stop next to one of the local ho's, and if she's interested she'll get into your car for some business. Drive to a place where there's grass, stop the car and watch the show. With the help of her services, you'll be replenishing your health if you've lost any.





Ammu-Nation
If you need to stock up on your weapons, then this is the place to come to. Located in the eastern part of the Red Light District, this is the ideal place to find anything from hand guns, grenades and armor for protecting Toni against them rival gangs and police forces.





Pay 'n' Spray
So you need to loose the cops fast huh? Well grab a vehicle and come on down to Red Light District's Pay 'n' Spray where you could get your ride a makeover that'll make the cops lost and confused. You'll also need to come here to fix damaged vehicles in the car salesmen missions from Auto's. Bear in mind that Pay 'n' Spray do not accept federal vehicles.





Police Station
If you're busted by the cops, this is where you'll end up. Located just outside of Chinatown, the feds here will snatch some of your personal money and all your weapons after you were busted for the crime you committed.





Hospital
Next to the Police Station, is Portland's Hospital. Whenever you're wasted, either by explosion, gun wounds, drowning or anything else that causes your health meter to reach zero, you'll end up here. The medical staff, unfortunately, will also take away all of your weapons and some of your money for taking care of you.





GTA 3 save house
Remember the save house from GTA 3? Well this time you won't be using this as your hideout, but it's still there. You can find this place in the western part of Portland, between Hepburn Heights and the Red Light District.
